A fixture in the Twin Cities blues scene, Joyann dives into our local music world with heart and versatility, performing everything from Patsy Cline tributes to her own original music.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the joy of photographing Joyann and her band for numerous portrait projects tied to their music. So when she approached Block Portrait Studios to create portraits for her new album, Life Lines, we were all in! With a retro, vintage vibe, this shoot was an absolute blast. From a laundromat to an open country road, every portrait perfectly complements the album’s blend of blues, soul, roots, and ’70s-inspired Americana.
Just like on stage, Joyann brings personality, passion, and honesty to every frame. Collaborating with her vision is always a delight, and we couldn’t be more excited for the release of Life Lines.
Joyann is incredible — she even sent us a vinyl copy of Life Lines! Holding it in our hands and seeing the final product was such a thrill. There’s something special about seeing her music and our portraits come together in this tangible, beautiful form.
