Playing With Music offers experiences that catch a child’s imagination and inspire participation, play, and learning through active music-making.
A self-taught guitarist/singer-songwriter/audio engineer, Mark has been performing live music for 27+ years and has been actively offering music & movement experiences to families in the Twin Cities since 2015. He has collaborated with Can Can Wonderland, the Ordway, DEMO, Westside Farmers Market, ECFE, Union Park District Council, Dodge Nature Preschool, Child Garden Montessori, Medley Village, St Paul Childhood Center, School of Northern Lights, Midwest Special Services, Ramsey County Libraries, and Washington County Libraries. In addition, Mark currently serves as secretary on the board of directors for the Minneapolis School of New Music.
Mark grew up in the western suburbs of Minnesota in the music scene before spending ten years living in Japan as an English teacher. While in Japan, he was at an international preschool, where they were hiring a guitar music player, learning English through music, which started his path to teaching music. In 2016 he created “Play with Music” on Saturday mornings in the Longfellow neighborhood. When he’s not teaching music, he spends time with his 10-year-old Leo and 2.5 yr old Mimi and his wife Naomi hiking and playing tennis at Cherokee Park. You can see Mark perform with his band, Lazear. They play around locally around town in the Twin Cities.
Thank you, Mark!
