There are some people who don’t just run a business, they build something that truly shapes a community. Rick Stack is one of those people. As a musician, author, and the owner of St. Paul School of Music, Rick wears many hats. His branding portrait session needed to reflect all of them in a way that felt cohesive, elevated, and authentic to who he is, not just what he does.
We set the tone with intentional styling, starting with a polished button-up for a professional, welcoming look, then switching to a denim shirt for a more relaxed, creative vibe. His electric guitar and books, Follow Your Excitement and The Half-Sized Santa Maria, highlighted his artistry and authorship, while the session ended with a bold, playful look—t-shirt, leather jacket, and sunglasses. Each outfit and prop told a piece of Rick’s story, creating cohesive, authentic branding portraits that capture his creativity, leadership, and personality.
I always love working with Rick, and this session was no exception. Beyond his personal branding portraits, I’ve had the honor of photographing recitals at the St. Paul School of Music and capturing the incredible students who bring the school to life. Seeing their growth, confidence, and joy in performance is always inspiring, and it’s a privilege to document both Rick’s story and the vibrant community he has built.
