Block Portrait Studios had the wonderful experience of photographing branding portraits for Katy Nelson Reiki. After the difficult loss of her dad, Katy leaned on mediation and reiki, a Japanese practice of energy healing. Wanting to help others heal and grow, Katy became a full-time Reiki Practitioner and now provides Reiki sessions and intuitive coaching.
For Katy’s branding portrait session, it was important to create a comfortable, calm theme that reflects her business’s essence. As we’ve mentioned in our previous blog with business portraits styling advice with Rachael from Reflect Styles, outfit color choices speak volumes in a branding portrait session. We loved Katy’s use of soft greens and neutral tones to set a relaxed, serene vibe that perfectly fits the feel of her brand.
Then we switched things up to create a very relatable scene of a mama just trying to find some “me time” and meditate with two kiddos running around to promote Katy’s “Mediating Mama Reiki” sessions. We know most parents can connect with this image, and we love how it shows a piece of Katy’s personal life. It was so much fun to be able to include her family for this part of the session!
